Design By Them is the Australian duo of Nicholas Karlovasitis and Sarah Gibson whose projects cover furniture, lighting and accessories. Their lines are clean, and their design combines a sense of fun with clear-cut function. Dorothy is a traffic cone inspired lighting system that is great for outdoor parties and events. See the WebLight after the jump, a pendant or floor light that relies on HDPE plastic from plastic bags. Or Loose Change, a chair meant to make finding the change that slips down between the cushions a whole lot easier. And take a peak at Posy, a flirty way to deliver a bunch of flowers.
Worth taking another look at this fantastic exhibition design and graphic implementation by Bibliothéque for the Super Contemporary exhibition at the Design Museum. Interesting to hear them talk a little about the processes, inspirations and work of Bibliothéque last night at LongLunch event in Edinburgh. Also great to meet them afterwards for a couple of drinks.
We have a feature in the latest Issue of The Drum magazine on our recent work for Architecture + Design Scotland. See more on the project here.
Lovely poster for a new exhibition called Membranes Surfaces Boundaries, Exhibition opening at the Aedes Pfefferberg Berlin on October 8, 2010. designed by Onlab.
New studio photography softboxes, ironically we needed to use the flash for this shot.

Since the demise of Borders earlier this year Glasgow has been without a source for a wide selection of contemporary and independent magazine publishing. Whilst there are outlets providing limited selections of publications, there is no decent place to purchase a wide variety of contemporary reading material in the city. Glasgow, as a city rich in culture and creativity, deserves a provision equal to the flourishing networks for publishing and distribution of many other European cities. We hope to change this. GmbH will open at The Modern Institute, Osborne St Glasgow, as an outlet for a wide range of magazines, journals and periodicals sourced from across the world. Focusing on bespoke publishing, art, fashion, design, film and music as well as covering lifestyle, culture and affairs. For further information and announcements, please join our mailing list. www.GmbHshop.com www.themoderninstitute.com 14-20 Osborne Street Glasgow, G1 5QN Open hours - Monday—Friday 10am—5pm Saturday 12 noon—5pm Preview Friday 8th October 4pm – 9pm Opens Saturday 9th October 12 noon
